Our first event in the Augusta’s Viewpoint: Understanding the Civil War series was a great success. ASU faculty, staff, and students joined members of the community for a provactive discussion of Anthony Gene Carey’s Parties, Slavery, and the Union in Antebellum Georgia!

We’ve already received calls this morning from members of the community who couldn’t join us last night. Do not fret! Feel free to share your thoughts here. Just click Leave a Comment at the top right of this post and your two cents!

Carol Waggoner-Angleton discusses Anthony Gene Carey’s work.

Our next discussion event will take place on October 8th! We will discuss Plain Folk and Gentry: White Liberty in Slave Society by J. William Harris. Hope to see you there!

  1. Carol Waggoner-Angleton says:

Fellow discussionists, I have just had a confirmation for the ASU Bookstore that books for the series will be next week, with the exception of Dwelling Place which is on back order. However, we do have a little time before that one comes up for discussion. Let’s think positive
    .
Don’t forget that all titles are on reserve in the Reese Library, ASU, Collins-Callaway Library Paine, Augusta Public Library Georgia Room, and the Columbia County Public Library reference desk.
Looking forward to our blog discussions and our next meeting in October.
    Carol
